1910 Fire Commemorative

UPDATED LIST OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE COMMEMORATION!

UPDATED PICTURES OF NINEMILE PROJECTS AND THE NEW 1910 FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL!!

The 1910 Fire Commemoration Committee has been established for the remembrance of all those who perished in the Silver Valley and surrounding region during the catastrophic fires of 1910.  The group will be coordinating events leading up to the 100 year anniversary of the 1910 fires.

Some projects the committee will be working on include:  Planning, placement and construction of a memorial and interpretive signs at the Wallace Visitor’s Center,  a memorial for Ed Pulaski’s fallen crew members and restoration of firefighter gravesite memorials at Nine Mile Cemetery.

Events leading up to the August 19-21, 2010 commemoration will begin with the first annual Fireman’s Ball on March 6.  During spring and summer, museum and business exhibits will be opened throughout the Silver Valley.  There will also be informational and guided tours, educational programs and film festivals.  The Sixth Street Melodrama will be putting on special productions and there will be speakers and books signings taking place as well as many other exciting displays and activities.

To ensure the success of these events and the construction of the memorials the 1910 Committee is seeking donations and assistance from the business and residential communities.  All monies collected will go directly toward the memorials, Wildland Firefighter Foundation and other fallen firefighter organizations and projects.

Donations will be accepted at all Silver Valley US Bank locations and can also be mailed to:

                      1910 Fire c/o Forest VanDorn, P.O. Box 444  Osburn, ID 83849.
